Happy Spring!

“These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor, execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates; And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath; for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.” Zachariah 8:16- 17

Monthly Meeting was held on 5/12. Clerk Mary Alice has emailed the minutes to Middleton Members. There are some important announcements, so please check thy email or let us know if we need to resend.

We will be discussing the 8th and 9th Queries at Sixth Month Monthly Meeting.

8th Query:

Are we faithful to Christ’s command to avoid swearing oaths? Are we watchful for and faithful to Christ’s promptings to share with others our testimony against the use of oaths? Do we avoid gambling and speculation based on the principles of chance?

9th Query:

Are we sensitive to the problems of family living? Do we offer counseling to couples both before and after marriage? How are we helping individuals, married couples and family units to strengthen and enrich their lives?

Living A-Top of the World

I picked up the booklet "Living A-Top of the World" by Charles P. Morlan at Middleton Meeting last year. It is a booklet that I read through in entirety and now continue to re-read sections as part of my daily devotions. One passage recently stood out to me. I thought I would share it:

"But what must we do to possess this dynamic faith? We must first choose to want it. ' Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness' for they shall be filled.' Faith is a quality which we use constantly in the activities of everyday living.". I hope this gives readers something to ponder on this beautiful day.

Information about  Ohio Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Conservative) can be found here: OYM or https://ohioyearlymeeting.org/. Better yet,  join us in person for worship on Fifth Day (Thursday) at 3pm and/or on First Day (Sunday) at 10:30am.

I Corinthians 13: 4-8 (NIV)

4. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.

8. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Winter Wonderland

❅Here are some words to think about as we all try to stay warm in our wintery (but beautiful) snowy conditions:

One of our members did some additional research and writes that the definition of "husk" is 'a dry empty shell especially when empty of its contents'.

Our Clerk has emailed the Monthly Minutes from 1/14 to all members. The minutes are very informative and include information about upcoming OYM virtual meetings.

Please join us on Fifth Day (Thursday) and/or First Day (Sunday) !

On 1/14 we will consider 4th and 5th Queries:

4th Query: Believing our bodies to be the temple of God, are we concerned to attain a high level of physical and mental health? To this end are our lives examples of temperance in all things? Do we avoid and discourage the use and handling of intoxicants, tobacco, and improper use of drugs?

5th Query: Are we sensitive to the needs of those around us who may be in less fortunate circumstances? Do we prayerfully consider how we can share one another’s burdens when the need arises? Do we counsel lovingly and prayerfully with those members whose actions in any phase of life give us grounds for concern?

Happy Thanksgiving

                             Happy Thanksgiving!

Every day is a day of thanksgiving. However, as we officially celebrate Thanksgiving on 11/23, here are a few selections from the Bible to remember:

1 Chronicles 16:34

" O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good; his mercy endureth for ever.

Colossians 4:2

"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving"

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning thee"

Psalm 50:14

"Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High."

(Selected from King James Version)

Are our homes places of peace, joy, and contentment? Are they an influence for good in the neighborhood, community, and country? Do we set a good Christian example for our children to follow? Are Friends careful that their children realize that our loving Savior will faithfully guide them through life, as they are willing to accept and obey Him? Do we help our children to read and appreciate the Bible?

  • Business meeting will be held on 11/19.  Representative Meeting is the 18th and we could get a fresh report from our representatives
